Cinderella and the Three Bears
or
Prinderella and the Cince
and the Two Sisty Uglers:
Getting to Know Our Many Selves
(not to mention the Micked Wepstother)

Round Top, Texas
Friday evening through Sunday afternoon
November 4-6, 2011

SOMEONE REGRETTABLY HAD TO CANCEL
SO THERE’S AN UNEXPECTED OPENING!

email jeanne@jeanneguy.com to register

How many Selves do you have? What are your Selves saying to you? How do you hear them? How do you decipher what they are saying to you? How do you connect with them? What do they say about you? How do you get to know them rather than identify as them e.g., how do you see your anger as something you are feeling rather than something you are?

With compassion and curiosity, we’ll visit with those Selves and let them tell their stories. We’ll let the relationships unfold.

Within the warmth of the Re-Story Circle**, and by responding to writing prompts, journaling, and sharing our stories, we’ll learn how to make a shift in our thinking. We’ll take a lighthearted but in depth look at Prinderella, the three bears, the Cince, and the two sisty uglers (and maybe the micked wepstother) and get to know what they have to offer us.

*Re-Story (v):  to explore your life as it is currently constituted and reframe it in your life’s best interests

**Re-Story Circle (n): a safe structure for group sharing, deep listening and conversation, and for generating ideas to re-story your life through writing prompts and journaling. It’s a way you can feel nurtured, supported and empowered – in community. It is an interactive social container where transformation occurs.

Cost: $250

Re-Story Workshops

These classes offer the support, structure, encouragement and empowerment needed to explore your personal story, examine your creative options and ultimately re-story your life — all in an atmosphere of safety and trust: the Circle. “The Circle” is a structure for group sharing, deep listening and deep conversation.

Classes will incorporate writing exercises and prompts, creative exploration and expression, and meditations — tools that, when coupled with “the Circle,” will guide you to clarity through self-discovery and self-expression. The clearer your thoughts, the better your understanding of who you are now and the better your vision of who you choose to become.

And what’s more important than you discovering who you are? And making your life what you want it to be? It starts with you. And believing that you and your one precious life are worth the investment.

Re-Story I: Foundations for Discovering Your Authentic Self  (12 weeks)

This foundational workshop gives you the fundamental tools you need for self-discovery — tools based on the work of authors Julia Cameron and Christina Baldwin (giants in the field of journaling) and Janet Conner. It requires committing time to write in a personal journal, take “artist dates” and respond to creative thinking prompts in order to know who you are, what gifts you have and what you really-really want out of your one precious life.  Note: Re-Story I is a precursor to and prerequisite for Re-Story II.

Dates: To Be Announced

Re-Story II: Change Your story, Change Your Life  (8 weeks)

What is being born in you right now? Through personal writing and other self-discovery tools offered in this course, you can explore, re-examine, re-imagine, rethink and reframe your life — your story. This course — an advanced self discovery workshop — will help you use the foundational tools learned in Re-story I to map the re-storying of your life. Through personal writing and the power of “the Circle,” this workshop will empower you to more deeply explore what’s holding you back from the life you want as well as to identify the key ideas and steps required for you to overcome those “blocks” and open up your life’s possibilities. Note: Re-Story I (or previous Jeanne Guy workshop) is a precursor to and prerequisite for Re-Story II.

Dates: To Be Announced

It starts with you. These workshops are an investment in your life. If you’re ready to re-discover and re-story your life, fasten your seatbelt… and prepare for the write of your life!

Those who do not have power over the story that dominates their lives, the power to retell it, rethink it, deconstruct it… and change it as times change, truly are powerless because they cannot think new thoughts. –Salman Rushdie

Hi Jeanne. I’m VERY interested in taking these courses, but I live in the Houston area. Do you offer anything here? BTW – I’ve signed up for your session at the SCN conference in Austin…can’t wait!

    • Jeanne says:

Hi Kelly – thanks so much for your interest. No plans for workshops in the Houston area but you may be interested in a weekend retreat I’ll be facilitating in November. I’ll send you some info. Looking forward to meeting you at the SCN conference!

I would love to attend the weekend retreat, but it is Parent Weekend at my school. Is there a calendar of events that I could check over to find some workshops or other retreat dates?
    Thanks,
    Haley Moberg

Hi Haley – Currently I’m facilitating two Re-Story Circles, one south Austin the second Monday of each month, one north Austin the second Wednesday of each month. Information about the Re-Story Circles is on the website. I’d be happy to put you on the e-mailing list to receive info each month about the upcoming circles. Other than that, there is no calendar of events as I’m on hiatus working on a book. Thanks for the inquiry! Let me know if you’d like to be added to the e-mailing list. Sincerely, Jeanne
