My Story

“Human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives.”  —William James

In my former life, I managed architects. Now I’m married to one. I need all the help I can get…and I’ve found it. I am re-storying my life daily.

As a teacher and a writer now, there is nothing better than helping people explore and re-story their lives, which is what I’ve been doing since 1995.

I’ve been told that my irreverent sense of humor coupled with my encouraging and experiential facilitation style creates a safe space for participants to shape their lives through “daily practice” tools, the foundation of which is journaling. I ask you, if you’re not creating your life story, who is? You can choose to create your life rather than live by default. I can’t re-story your life, but you can, and that’s why these workshops are immensely successful.”

If it’s important to know, I am a graduate of Indiana University and Leadership Austin and have won two really cool awards: the Sam Walton Community Leadership Award and Zachary Scott’s Volunteer of the Year Award.

Over the years, I have served on several neat civic boards including The Crossings Retreat Center Program Advisory Board, Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce, and Zachary Scott Theatre Center.

Currently, I am a member of the National Story Circle Network Board of Directors, the Seton Cove and the Writers’ League of Texas, and am writing a memoir about the kidnapping of my older two children.
